American Music Awards: Lingerie Fever

Ooh-la-la! The red carpet for the American Music Awards was a hot one, literally. Let’s talk about all the lace, bustiers, and dramatic see-through ensembles that  made their way down the red carpet tonight. Now, maybe all the celebrities that donned these lingerie-inspired pieces are preparing for the new Fifty Shades of Grey movie (releasing in 3 months) or  for whatever reason just wanted to turn up the heat – well, mission accomplished. The hottest musicians and celebrities in the game opted for risque pieces by designers such as Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Anthony Franco, and Labourjoisie. If you do nothing else, please take a moment to appreciate the intricate detailing of these pieces – the beading from top to bottom is flawless.

Usually I have a favorite look on the red carpet, but for this particular award show I didn’t. The pieces were good, but nothing really stood out to me- maybe I’m just being a little picky this year. For all my fashionistas, the big trend to watch out for are mid corset bras – these can be worn alone as seen on Ariana Grande (see below) or can be worn in a “peek-a-boo” style as seen on Taraji P. Henson and Nina Dobrev (see below). Retailers such as H&M, Express, Top Shop, and ASOS are filled with the perfect lingerie-inspired pieces for you to rock this trend – be risque and bold, or be reserved and playful.
